An imaginative hand drawn-style flyer from BT

BT Thumbnail

Earlier today I spotted this creative flyer sitting on top of  my recycling pile.

Hand Drawn BT Flyer

On first impression, it appears to be a hand made poster written in marker pen that you’d possibly see stapled to a telephone pole or a tree in your neighbourhood when someone’s lost a beloved family pet. In this case the lost ‘pet’ is the family’s internet connection.

This connection is an incredibly imaginative  tactic for getting the flyer seen, as we all seem to have an in built automatic response to view and them.

Inside the hand made style carries on, this time with images that look as though they’ve been cut out from magazines and catalogues and glued down to the page.

Hand Drawn BT Flyer

Strangely for an advertisement, it doesn’t feature the client’s logo on the front, and even the phrase ‘BT Total Broadband’, which informs you as to what’s actually being advertised, isn’t immediately obvious. It’s a bold move, that ensures the design is kept looking like a ‘lost’ poster. Chances are, if people knew what the flyer was advertising straight away, they probably wouldn’t give it a second glance.

Do you know of any other imaginative and creative ways of ensuring a product or advertisement is seen?

Interesting. This is indeed a unique advertisement. It really looks hand drawn. I haven’t seen any advertisement that could compare to this, actually.

P.S. Thanks for visiting my blog. :)

I’ve seen some pretty eye-catching adverts, but this is the first time that I can think of that I’ve seen one created like this, and I was pleasantly surprised that a big company like BT used such a simple, lo-fi style to attract peoples’ attention. It certainly worked on me.

      PS. You’re welcome :)

I too got this advert posted to me and I must say it caught my attention immediately. I love the creativity of this ad so much that I am using the same idea in my advertising unit of GCSE media.
