Paul Murray, Graphic Designer

Manchester-based graphic designer

Need a graphic designer?

Hello, I'm Paul, a second year graphic design student from Manchester studying at Stockport College.

Alongside studying for a degree I work as a freelance graphic designer, designing logos, stationery, book jackets and album covers.

This is a selection of my work for real clients, university briefs and personal gratification.

Hire me!

Client: Nikki Strange
Category: Logo & identity design

Nikki is a freelance textile print designer living and working in London, who has worked with fashion retailers ASOS and Topshop.

She requested a logo design that was fun, contemporary, feminine and implied luxury yet affordabilty.

We decided on a design that looks handwritten to add a personal touch.

Client: Martin Balman
Category: Logo & identity design

Martin is a BMX photographer who approached me with regards to designing him a unique logo for his business. He was very specific that he would like something that would also work as a 'general' photographer logo.

I was keen to try and avoid obvious solutions and instead wanted to design something unique to Martin.

Eventually we settled on the idea of a camera shutter combined with a bike cog, effectively bringing 'BMX' and 'photography' together.

Client: James Galvin
Category: Stationery design

James is the Managing Director of Glandore Systems who asked me to design print-ready stationery designs for ResumeSafe.com.

The designs consisted of a letterhead, compliments slip, and a two-sided business card template that could be edited for future employees.

Client: University brief
Category: Editorial design

A two-page spread for a collaborative university project.

Each member of my class was given a typeface at random and was asked to create a design using the copy supplied (written by Ellen Lupton) that uses only their given typeface.

All spreads were then combined into one printed publication titled 16 Types, as there were 16 students.

A design for the Atari Teenage Riot B-sides album titled Redefine the Enemy.

Created using a combination of photo manipulation and digital painting.
